Itachi Uchiha is a fictional character in the Naruto manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. In the series, Itachi is the older brother of Sasuke Uchiha responsible for killing all the members of their clan, sparing only Sasuke. Itachi is treated as an antagonist for much of the series, however around the time of his death his villainous role is greatly downplayed. It is revealed that he was ordered by the former leaders of Konohagakure to kill the clan in order to prevent the Uchiha coup d’état which would have resulted in war. Despite his reservations, Itachi fulfilled his mission and defected from Konohagakure to become part of the criminal organization Akatsuki to continue protecting Konohagakure from behind the scenes.

Itachi has not been featured in the films and original video animations from Naruto, but he is a playable character in most video games of the series. His character has been very popular within readers from the manga, having ranked high in various popularity polls from the series. Also numerous anime and manga publications have commented on Itachi’s character. His fights are often noted to be “one of the best” in the series. His appearance as an antagonist has been praised by several writers although some considered his initial not to be very surprising. The gradual revelations of his past and its impact on the story has also been praised . Several types of merchandising have also been developed based on Itachi’s appearance including figurines and plush.

Within the series, Itachi is renowned for his mastery of all ninja abilities. From his days as a ninja of Konoha, Konoha ninja know by reputation not to underestimate Itachi, his killing of the Uchiha clan only elevating him to the classification of an extremely dangerous criminal. During his appearances he is shown to be very fast with his movements, attacking before his opponents have the chance to respond. Generally, however, Itachi does not actively participate in battles, remaining in a stationary position where he analyzes an opponent’s actions, only then acting in self-defense. In these instances he relies heavily on trapping opponents in illusions to keep them preoccupied, something he can do merely by pointing or looking at them.

As an Uchiha, Itachi possesses a Sharingan, an eye technique that gives the user heightened analytical capabilities. Before he assassinated the Uchiha he killed his best friend to advance his Sharingan to its next level: the Mangekyo Sharingan. When activated, the Mangekyo Sharingan changes the Sharingan’s appearance and grants Itachi with abilities derived from Japanese mythology. The first, Tsukuyomi, traps his opponent in an illusory realm in which Itachi is allowed to torture said opponent for what seems like days in a matter of moments. The second, Amaterasu, generates black flames at his focal point that will continue to burn until the target is reduced to ash. The final ability, Susanoo (creates a massive ethereal warrior that attacks on his behalf and uses the Yata no Kagami to protect him from all attacks. Despite the effectiveness of the techniques, use of the Mangekyo Sharingan deteriorates Itachi’s eyesight to the point of blindness. Only by taking Sasuke’s eyes can he restore his vision.

Naruto characters

The Naruto anime and manga series takes place in a fictional universe where different countries vie for power by using ninja who can use supernatural abilities in combat. The Naruto storyline is divided into two parts, simply named Part I and Part II, with the latter taking place two-and-a-half years after the conclusion of Part I. The series’ storyline follows the adventures of a group of young ninja from the village of Konohagakure.

The titular character of the series is Naruto Uzumaki, an energetic ninja who wishes to become Hokage, the leader of Konohagakure. During the early part of the series, he is assigned to Team 7, during which he meets Sasuke Uchiha, a taciturn and highly skilled “genius” of the Uchiha clan; Sakura Haruno, who is infatuated with Sasuke yet has Naruto’s affection; and Kakashi Hatake, the quiet and mysterious leader of the team. Over the course of the series, Naruto interacts with and befriends several of his fellow ninja in Konohagakure as well as other villages. He also encounters the series’ antagonists, including Orochimaru, a former ninja of Konohagakure scheming to destroy his former home, and the elite ninja of the criminal organization Akatsuki.

While developing the series, Kishimoto created the three primary characters as a basis for the designs of the other three-person teams. He also utilized characters in other sh?nen manga as references in his design of the characters, a decision that was criticized by several anime and manga publications. The characters that Kishimoto developed were however praised for incorporating many of the better aspects of previous sh?nen characters, although many publications lamented the perceived lack of growth beyond such stereotypes. The visual presentation of the characters was commented on by reviewers, with praise and criticism given to Kishimoto’s work in the manga and anime adaptation.

Sakura Haruno is the sole female member of Team 7. Kishimoto created her as the heroine of the series, although he has admitted that he has little perception of what an ideal heroine should be. As a child, Sakura was taunted by other children because of her large forehead, a feature Kishimoto has tried to emphasize in Sakura’s appearances. She was comforted by Ino Yamanaka. As the two continued to grow, however, they became increasingly distant due to their shared affection for Sasuke Uchiha. During most of Part I, Sakura is infatuated with Sasuke, and spurns the advances of Naruto Uzumaki. After Sasuke leaves the village, she resolves to become stronger by training with Tsunade. In Part II, she displays highly developed skills from her training, and a more open disposition towards Naruto. In the Japanese anime, her seiy? is Chie Nakamura, and she is voiced by Kate Higgins in the English adaptation

List of Naruto chapters (Part I)

The Naruto manga is divided in two parts to divide the storyline; the first one, Part I, covers the first two hundred and forty-four chapters of the series. The chapters are written by Masashi Kishimoto and published by Shueisha in the Weekly Sh?nen Jump magazine. The first chapter was published in 1999, continuing for a total of two hundred and forty-four chapters. The last six chapters are part of a gaiden taking place before the regular storyline, called the Kakashi Gaiden. The chapters after the gaiden are part of Part II, the second part of the Naruto storyline that takes place two and a half years after the end of the Naruto manga. An anime adaptation, produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo, was aired on TV Tokyo, with the first episode shown on October 3, 2002. The last episode of the Naruto anime aired on February 8, 2007, with the anime adaptation of Part II, known as Naruto: Shipp?den, replacing it. The Naruto manga was serialized in North America by Viz Media in the United States Shonen Jump magazine. The first chapter of the English adaptation was published on January 7, 2003.The English adaptation of the Naruto anime has been shown on Cartoon Network’s Toonami and YTV’s Bionix programming blocks, with the first episode airing on September 10, 2005.

The chapters have been composed into twenty-seven tank?bon in Japan by Shueisha. The first tank?bon was released on March 3, 2000, and the twenty-seventh released on April 4, 2005. All of the tank?bon contain nine chapters of the original manga, with the exception of the first tank?bon, which has seven chapters. Viz Media has released all twenty-seven volumes of the English adaptation of the manga. In addition, Viz Media released all twenty-seven volumes in a boxed set, thus constituting the entirety of the Naruto storyline before Part II on November 13, 2007. A “Collector’s Edition” of volume 1 including a hardcover was also released on September 16, 2008 by Viz.

Shortly before the release of the fourteenth volume, Viz Media announced its “Naruto Nation” campaign, planning to release three volumes a month in the last four months of 2007. Cammie Allen, Viz Media’s product manager, commented that, “Our main reason [for the accelerated schedule] was to catch up to the Japanese release schedule to give our readers a similar experience to that of our readers in Japan.”As such, the English adaptation of Part II was featured on December 4, 2007 in the United States Shonen Jump, as will the Kakashi Gaiden

Sharingan

The Sharingan is a genetic eye technique that naturally occurs in members of the Uchiha clan. It is not immediately present from birth, and first activates in a stressful situation in battle; after this occurrence, the user may utilize the Sharingan freely. When first acquired, the Sharingan has only one tomoe, and as its power increases, two additional tomoe will eventually appear. Kakashi Hatake possesses a single, transplanted Sharingan in his left eye that he received from his teammate, Obito Uchiha. Because he is not a member of the Uchiha clan, Kakashi’s Sharingan is always active and he expends chakra rapidly when using it, forcing him to cover it up when not in combat and needing extended rest after long battles. Members of the Uchiha clan expend a negligible amount of chakra when using the Sharingan; Akatsuki member Itachi Uchiha keeps his Sharingan activated constantly.

Over the course of its development, the Sharingan will grant the user three unique abilities. It is most famous in the Naruto world for its ability to memorize and replicate any movement it has seen, allowing the user to use an opponent’s jutsu against them. The Sharingan’s second ability grants the user increased clarity of perception, allowing them to track and predict the movements and actions of fast-moving objects. This also allows the user to easily recognize genjutsu and different forms of chakra. Its final ability is a brand of hypnosis that suggests actions and thoughts to the opponent, acting as an effective way to produce genjutsu or implant memories in another person.

Naruto : Yaoi

Yaoi or Sh?nen-ai is a popular term for fictional media that focus on homoerotic or homoromantic male relationships, created by female authors and intended for female readers. Originally referring to a specific type of d?jinshi (self-published works) parody of mainstream anime and manga works, yaoi came to be used as a generic term for female-oriented manga, anime, dating sims, novels and d?jinshi featuring homosexual male relationships.

Yaoi began in the d?jinshi markets of Japan in the late 1970s/early 1980s as an outgrowth of sh?nen-ai (also known as “Juné” or “tanbi”), but whereas sh?nen-ai (both commercial and d?jinshi) were original works, yaoi were parodies of popular “straight” sh?nen anime and manga, such as Captain Tsubasa and Saint Seiya. BL creators and fans are careful to distinguish the genre from “gay manga,” which are created by and for gay men. However, some male manga creators have produced BL works.

Yaoi is an acronym created in the d?jinshi market of the late 1970s by Yasuko Sakata and Akiko Hatsu and popularised in the 1980s standing for Yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi “No climax, no point, no meaning”. This phrase refers to how yaoi, as opposed to the “difficult to understand” sh?nen-ai of the Year 24 Group, focussed on “the yummy parts”. The phrase also parodies a classical style of plot structure. As of 1998, the term yaoi was considered “common knowledge to manga fans”. A joking alternative acronym among fujosi (female yaoi fans) for yaoi is Yamete, oshiri ga itai (”Stop, my butt hurts!”).

Another term for yaoi is 801. “801″ can be read as “yaoi” in the following form: the “short” reading of the number 8 is “ya”, 0 can be read as “o” – a western influence without doubt, while the short reading for 1 is “i” (see Japanese wordplay). For example, an Internet manga called Tonari no 801-chan, about an otaku guy who dates a fujoshi, has been adapted into a serialized sh?jo manga and a live-action film. 801-chan, the mascot of a Japanese shopping centre, is used in the manga.

Yaoi has become an umbrella term in the West for male/male manga or Japan-inspired comics, and it is preferentially used by American manga publishers. The actual name of the genre aimed toward women in Japan is called ‘BL’ or ‘Boy’s Love’. BL is aimed at the sh?jo and josei demographics, but is considered a separate category. Yaoi is used in Japan to include d?jinshi and sex scenes, and does not include gei comi, which is by gay men and for gay men.

The terms yaoi and sh?nen-ai are sometimes used by western fans to differentiate between the contents of the genre. In this case, “yaoi” is used to describe titles that contain sex scenes and other sexually explicit themes and “sh?nen-ai” is used to describe titles that focus more on romance and do not include explicit sexual content. When using the terms in this way, Gravitation is considered to be shonen-ai due to its focus on the characters’ careers rather than their love life, while the Gravitation Remix and Megamix doujinshi by the same author, which emphasize the characters’ sexual relationships, would be considered yaoi. Sometimes the word hentai is used as an additional modifier with yaoi – “hentai yaoi” – to denote the most explicit titles. However, Kaze to Ki no Uta was groundbreaking in its depictions of “openly sexual relationships”, spurring the development of the sh?nen-ai genre in sh?jo manga. The use of yaoi to denote those works with explicit scenes sometimes clashes with use of the word to describe the genre as a whole. Yaoi can be used by fans as a label for anime or manga-based slash fiction.
